mîtosfilm is an independent Berlin-based production company which aims to support authentic storytelling, producing thought-provoking feature and documentary films. Through our international co-productions, we strive to reach audiences around the world.

From 2004 to 2011 mîtosfilm released 16 arthouse films as a distributor, including TURTLES CAN FLY by Bahman Ghobadi, CLOSE TO HOME by Vidi Bilu and Dalia Hager, SÜT by Semih Kaplanoglu or MIN DÎT by Miraz Bezar for the German cinema-theatres.

Few examples of our productions are films like Bahman Ghobadi’s NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT PERSIAN CATS (Cannes 2009: Prix Un Certain Regard), Iraqs Oscar entry MEMORIES ON STONE by Shawkat Amin Korki (Abu Dhabi 2014: Best Film of the Arab World, Asia Pacific Screen Awards: Unesco Prize) and RESEBA-THE DARK WIND by Hussein Hassan (Asia Pacific Screen Awards 2016: Unesco Prize, Dubai IFF: Grand Prix), HOUSE WITHOUT ROOF by Soleen Yusef (First Steps Award 2016), THE LEGEND OF THE UGLY KING by Hüseyin Tabak (Hof Filmfestival 2016: Best Documentary), as well as Hisham Zaman’s BEFORE SNOWFALL (Göteborg: Best Nordic Film).
