mîtosfilm is an independent film production company based in Berlin. We produce content-driven and aesthetically demanding feature films and documentaries, explicitly aiming to promote the telling of authentic stories. With our international co-productions, we target cinema audiences around the world.
Our productions include films such as No One Knows About Persian Cats by Bahman Ghobadi (Cannes 2009: Prix Un Certain Regard), Before Snowfall by Hisham Zaman (Gothenburg 2013: Best Nordic Film), Memories on Stone by Shawkat Amin Korki (Abu Dhabi 2014: Best Film from the Arab World), Reşeba – The Dark Wind by Hussein Hassan (APSA 2016: UNESCO Award, Dubai IFF: Grand Prix), House Without Roof by Soleen Yusef (First Steps Award 2016), The Legend of the Ugly King by Hüseyin Tabak (Hof International Film Festival 2017: Best Documentary), and The Exam by Shawkat Amin Korki (Iraq's Oscar submission 2021, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival: Best Film 2021).
mîtosfilm’s In the Blind Spot (Im toten Winkel) by Ayşe Polat, premiered in the Encounters section at the 2023 Berlinale and has won numerous international awards, including the FIPRESCI Prize at the 42nd Istanbul International Film Festival. In May 2024, In the Blind Spot won the German Film Awards (Lola) for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Feature Film (Bronze Lola), as well as the German Camera Award 2024.

In 2018, Mehmet Aktaş co-founded a second production company, epikfilm, in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) alongside Hüseyin Tabak. The company's latest productions include Nicolas Ehret’s Tomorrow Was War (Morgen war Krieg), which premiered at the 2026 Munich Film Festival ahead of its German theatrical release on September 24, 2026, as well as Siddiq Barmak’s The Postman, currently in post-production.
